Hi Lucy,

I'm an ex-Script Supervisor and am now a Line Producer and Personal coach.

You are doing the right things.  Get as much experience as you can on no and low budget productions.

Look for opportunities for crew on sites like this.  Get PCR which lists all the low budget films.

Get a copy of The Knowledge and go through the SS's listed.  Email or write to some of them and see if you can trail.  This way you'll also get some introductions to Line Producers & Directors who will mostly be the ones who'll offer you jobs.  Also a good SS will put you up for work they can't do, or bring you in on 2nd unit as they will know you and trust you.

Two of my friends came onto productions with me when I did that job and trailed for a few days.  Both have gone on to big TV & film productions and one regularly works for me.  I, personally, encourage people to do work experience on shows I work on.

Also send CVs to Line Producers and see if you can trail on their productions.  PCR also lists productions and LPs.

However, one word of warning - LPs get hundreds of CVs, be careful not to hassle too much.  You will probably never hear from them - don't take it personally.  I tend to answer emails but never letters unless there's an email address - but that's me, I can't speak for everyone.

I'm going to be posting something later about my services as a Personal Coach and there will be an offer for members.  I always offer a first session free which can be in person (central London) or by phone.  If you'd like to book a session, we can look at your skills, your experience, your confidence in yourself and cold calling, where you're at now and where you want to be.  You'd be under no obligation to book further sessions, though of course it would be nice if you did!

Email me on this site for now as I'm not sure if I'm allowed to give out my www and personal email.  I'm a new member and need to learn the ropes.

In the meantime, good luck and best wishes,

Alison

Hi Alison

Thank you so much for your reply, I really appreciate the advice. I will make sure I contact as many as I can, I've sent CVs and letters etc to production companies before rather than the SS or ADs before, so I shall try that route.

 Thanks again,

Lucy
